Panpan Yang 楊槃槃 is currently a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the arts and visual cultures of modern China at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Her first book, Animation Thinks: A Story of Media Entanglements in China, is currently in production with University of California Press. The book examines how animation thinks – not "thinks about" or "thinks through" – time and space to a degree unimaginable in other art forms.

Supported by an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) grant, she is currently working on a new book project on calligraphic imagination in modern and contemporary China.
